For Deccan Chargers, Cameron white who added few runs last game will be crucial as Sangakkara needs solid support from one more consistent attacking batsman in building the innings. Return of form into Ishant Sharma is great news for Deccan who have been struggling with inconsistency in pace attack. Their spinners have been useful not going for too many runs in the middle of matches and picking few important wickets. Dale Steyn too was economical all through this tournament but did not pick too many wickets only till the last game. If Deccan’s bowling attack will click like last game then they definitely can pull it off from Chennai who’s having a long batting line-up but can falter if challenged. Barring few games Manpreet Gony,Shikhar Dhawan and Bharat Cipli have a point to prove in today’s match as they have not been really effecting the match results.

Chennai on the other hand have seen good batting from Youngsers in Raina, Badrinath and Vijay. Hussey has played match winnings knocks too. However in match Pune we saw them slow down after wicket loss of  Mike Hussey in top order. Having a long batting line which has been tested completely will work good for Chennai. Stephen Fleming was quoted saying that his top 6 along with Anirudha Srikanth  and above mentioned players are best six top batsman of whole IPL.

Return of Albie Morkel will strengthen CSK bowling attack. According to the coach the only replacement will be Albie Morkel playing in today XI. Bollinger and Southe have been a hit for Chennai. With Ashwin taking wickets at crucial moments and him along with Jakati slowing down the ball, Chennai’s bowling is looking good too. However the 5th bowler is the one DC will look to attack more on. Dhoni’s temperament in changing bowlers against strong but inconsistent batting side of DC will be really crucial.

On Paper CSK looks only a bit more stronger than DC. But the consistency of young batsman and playing at home in Chennai makes them have an edge against Deccan. It will be left to the brilliance of Ishant Sharma and Dale Steyn to make it an even contest.

My surprise picks for Today and Young Srikanth who after his first match innings has not contributed big and Bharath Cipli from Deccan who has told a similar Story.

Battle of Friends | Dhoni vs Gambhir | CSK vs KKR

CSK VS KKR IPL OPNER

In less than a week time , two World Cup Final heroes who collectively steered INDIA to victory are now, on opposite sides. Even significantly Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir leading their respective teams Chennai super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight riders (KKR) and are set for for opening match of IPL 4 2011.

Going by just what it looks like, IPL defending Champions CSK are favorites at home ground to win against KKR. But that's not all as KKR is completely new side. Their owner Shahrukh khan seemed so desperate to have an almost new team that he didn’t care to bid for DADA. If their young guns fire then it’s going to be a interesting contest for an IPL opener.

If Dhoni has huge expectations on him as a World cup winning and title defending captain, Gambhir has extreme pressure on him of reviving a Franchise / team which hasn’t reached the top 4 in last three years. It will be tough to pass super consistent CSK, who has been in final 4 all the 3 seasons, as they are much the same side. Except Muttiah Muralitharan (now with Kochi Tuskers) they have managed to keep all key players in Consistent Subramanium Badrinath, local boy Murali Vijay, flamboyant Suresh Raina, spinner Ashwin and off course successful captain Dhoni with themselves.

Dhoni feels that his team is good on paper but has to deliver on match day as he always reiterates which ever team he is leading.

Dhoni was quoted saying: “If all the players are fit and available for selection, it is a very good side. The batting line-up is as good as last year. Badri, Raina are there and South African Faf du Plessis has come in. We have all-rounders and Hussey will also join in. Overall, it’s a very good batting line-up. IPL is not about less pressure. Batting slots are decided according to situation. When all are shuffled up and down the order, it’s according to the situation. Batting slots from 1-3 are fixed, then it’s me or Badri. Aniruddh is batting very well for us. If we have to change the batting order, everyone has to be comfortable about doing it.”

A lot will depend on how experienced all-rounder Jaques Kallis and England’s batting star Morgan perform, as Bangla’s Shakib Al Hasan and Australian pacer Lee will join only Australia vs Bangladesh series. Domestic players like Manoj Tiwary, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, All rounder Rajat bhatia L balaji.

Gambhir who has been having average IPL tournaments with bat should use his world cup winning knock’s confidence into molding KKR into successful side. That way he will justify his 2.4 million $ price, which is the highest bid in auction.

DADA in DC | Deccan Chargers ? FANS ask for KP replacement

April, 6th

Deccan Chargers' Fans want DADA Sourav Ganguly as a replacement for KP Kevin Peterson. Numerous requests are being posted in official Facebook page of Deccan Chargers and also in the official Website of DC. Rumors are strong as PR of Sourav was quoted tweeting that the talks are on with DC and they can expect an announcement next week.

Darren Lehmann, the Coach replying to this request said that Peterson is nursing his injury and that they are still hopeful of having him back in this Edition of IPL. Lehman acknowledging the greatness of Sourav, however said that they are confident with the current team. With this reply mutual fans of Sourav DADA and DC are a little disappointed.

Some fans think Gayle could be a good replacement. However Team Deccan Chargers seem quite happy with the side they have. Off course with a terrific bowling side in Steyn, Juan Theron, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma and Gony they should be if their domestic batsman show good potential.

A facebook page created yesterday supporting this demand of “DADA in DC” gathered 3000 likes in day. Hope this miracle happens and we can see one of india’s greatest captains in Deccan Chargers.
