DADA In OR Out? Full Story

DADA fans in Kolkata and around world were delighted when they saw a Aaj Tak Journalist tweet this on 20th.

Who would not ! Every wanted to see this man back as exclusion of DADA from IPL 4 in the auction and later did not make any cricketing sense. It was something else. Negative Publicity ? Increase in Slab rate just before the auction ? or just tough luck!! ?

Fans rejoiced the moment when they got to know that DADA might be replacing Jayawardane as captain of Kochi after he leaves to Lanka on May 5th and the decision was now with IPL committee to accept the replacement. Though initially Sri Lankan players had to go for a national assignment on May 20 th, their board called for players earlier as preparatory exercise.

Then also came a message from DADA himself in Bangla channel. That it’s possible that he might participate in IPL 4. Everything was falling in place and Some fans even made posters of Ganguly with Kochi Tuskers Logo.

But one more twist is tale came today when Sri Lankan board reverted back to its decision of asking players to come only on 20th May. That means that Jayawardene would not be there for just 2 league games and Qualifiers that too if they make it to the next level. It is back to the state of dilemma again. If or not we can see DADA in IPL 4. Some fans have already given up hopes due to too many twists and rumors about this issue, while some are still silently praying.

Sri Lanka board reverts back: Players allowed till 18th

Before this some fans took out a campaign: DADA in DC as Deccan needed a replacement for Kevin Peterson. Read more about it here. Surprisingly Deccan is moving on without a replacement.

Now thinking about the past, I feel that the decision that Ganguly took of increasing his Base price beyond 92,000 $ to a Lakh and over has gone against him in coming into IPL 4. It seemed correct when he took that decision but because of more base price he could not replace injured Steven Smith whose price was 90,000$ itself. It’s rules of the Managing committee sat that a player of Higher slab cannot replace player with Lower slab. However this is possible with Jayawardane as both fall into same league.

Let’s hope we soon get some news for sure. I am still positive about it.
