Kings XI Punjab win their 3rd consecutive match as they need 2 wins in 2 matches to make it to play-offs. Kings XI rise to 5th in points table and better their runrate with 29 run win over Delhi Daredevils. DD go further negative in Runrate

52nd Match-CSK vs RR

Chennai moves to second place improving their chances. Rajasthan has to a lot more to move into the top four.

51st Match- KIXP vs PW

Pune register a win after long time pushing the Punjab onto the bottom. Special thanks to Pune's bowling!

After RCB vs KTK Match

RCB win by fantastic 9 wickets by super fast innings from Gayle and Dilshan. They win with 6.5 overs to spare.

Updated after MI vs DD Match 49

7th May after KKR vs MI

Kolkata Knight riders vs Mumbai Indians game

6th May After RCB vs KXIP game

RCB win by huge margin of 85 runs. Gayle ton followed by his amazing spell of 3-21 inspired them for thumping victory. S Aravind needs a special mention for his clinical bowling performance of 4-14 too.

For the record this is the biggest increase in run-rate in a single game. Direct increase of 0.44 runrate.

5th May After DC vs DD game

Delhi rode on a fantastic century from Sehwag . Just too good a knock to even describe in words. They chased 175 made by DC by making 179 in 19 overs itself loosing 6 wickets.

Deccan have little hope left now as i wrote in an article.

5th May Analysis: KKR vs KTK game.

If KTK wins it will be 5 th in points table. And KKR will remain 2nd unless it looses too badly.

But, If KKR wins then it will be a different equation and will depend on run rate. If KTK make 150 then KKR has to chase it down in 17.4 overs to become first.

If KTK makes 160 then KKR has to chase in 18.3 overs to become 1st.

If KTK makes 170 which is least possible seeing the current scenario, KKR can chase it down in 19.2 overs to become 1st in points table

4th May after PWI vs MI

Mumbai won the match by 21 runs

Pune PWI innings: 59 (47) 4x4 6x3

Mumbai MI innings: T Suman 36 (16) K Pollard 30 (21); Rahul Sharma 2/7

4th May after CSK vs RR

CSK with 12 points and good run-rate is at 3rd position. If Mumbai loose their match to Pune badly they we can see CSK climb up to 2nd.

CSK innings:Raina 61 (51), 3x4, 1x6 and Hussey 79 not out (55) 8x4, 1x6

RR innings: Rahul Dravid 66 (51) 10 X4

4th May Analysis

Two games today: Match 43 Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan CSK VS RR Match 44 Pune Warriors India vs Mumbai PWI vs MI

You guys should be curious to know how these matches will effect the points table:

If Mumbai Indians win today they will be on top with 14 points irrespective of result of ongoing match today. But if Mumbai loose and Rajasthan win today then RR will be on top with 13 points. If Chennai win its going to be complicated. Then will jump to third if win with a small medium margin. Now that they are chasing lets get into the math. Rajasthan have made to make around 147 runs. If Chennai wants to go on top of table, off course if Mumbai loose then:

By run rate calculations: Chennai will have to make 148 runs in 14.4 overs to get on the First place.Off course if Mumbai looses by big margin and Chennai wins to Average margin then KKR will be on top with Chennai 2nd and Mumbai Third.

If Pune wins today they will straight away jump to 7th position from 10th.

3rd May after Kolkata’s victory KKR topped the table leaving Deccan on 7th itself. Mumbai slipped to 2nd Place

2nd May after DD vs KTK Match

Parthiv Patel Mcullum and Hodge Collectively made 140 chase look like a piece of cake as Kochi crushed Delhi. Kochi moved 4 places directly to 6th position. They are just 1 point below RCB but have played 1 match more. Their chances for Semis are more than alive now with this big win and they have bettered their run-rate by good margin.

2nd May

Mumbai Back to table topping !!! With a 23 run win over Kings XI who struggled against Mumbai Indians bowling attack. Barring Marsh no one could create a chance for kings as even Valthathy played contrary to how he plays normally.

Man of the Match Pollard

1st May CSK vs DC Match

CSK win by 19 runs

Morkel and Bollinger excel in limiting the chase.

1st May updated after RR vs PW

RR Rajasthan Royals rise to top spot. Warne Magic is really back. Lucky Taylor just helped it more. No one steal their spot till a day when MI or RCB play.

Pune Warriors are in deep deep trouble. Though they lost a close match and dint lose run-rate much. They were not in a state to afford this.

Kolkata has to settle for number 2 spot.

30th April After KKR vs KXIP

Kolkata Knight Riders are the table toppers and look very good under Gambhir to go all the way and reach the top 4 as they just need 3 more wins of double the games to do so.

However Small Net run-rate difference and Mumbai having played only 7 games till will be the advantage for Mumbai. They will definitely look more strong and look to clinch their position back.

Kings XI seems to have lost the momentum because of huge gap between the last game and game which they played Delhi. They dropped one more position below Delhi Daredevils who trashed Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Things still under control as have 8 more games to play. However they will need to win 5 out of 8 to be safe.Ironically Kings XI who looked so dangerous at one point of time are below Delhi Devils who looked as if they were destined to be out of the tournament.

30th April After KTK vs DD

KTK seems like they want to live up tos their expectations before their tournament, And other Delhi Daredevils players probably wants to make Sehwag look big. It was Sehwag all the way today with a terrific innings of 80. They still are in the completion for the last four if they can win 5 games out of the last 6.

KTK achieved the rarest feat in the their debut season the MOST negative run rate of –0.85. Already loosing last match by a big margin vs they got Negative 0.6 run rate. Now with this match defeat they amass –0.2 more reaching nearly --0.85 rounded off.

29th April After PW VS RCB

RCB win by 26 runs on Pune Warriors. RCB push RR who came to the second position 4 hours back with an awesome performance over Mumbai Indians. They stand on 2nd with a better run-rate over Rajasthan royals.

29th April After RR vs MI

Rajasthan win by 6 wickets.and 11 balls to spare. They did not let KKR stay 2nd for full day too. They made Consistent Mumbai Indians look small and won comfortably in the end.

28th April After DD vs KKR is over

KKR won by 17 run big margin even after making a modest total of 148 Delhi could only make 131 /9 in 20 overs. Not falling of last wicket was a saving grace for Delhi which would have taken Delhi run-rate even more down.

This meant that KKR with high run-rate increase go past CSK with same number of 8 points in 4 wins. KKR Stand 2nd only to MI. Way to go KKR and Gambhir

28th April After KTK vs DC Match 32 is over in IPL 4 2011

Deccan Chargers, The Bulls create a rampage to rise to 6th just below KKR. They have now 6 points with 3 wins in 7 matches. With same points KTK, are down 8th due to the negative run rate of 55 run defeat today. However, with 4 more wins and better run-rate BOTH teams can still all the way go to the last 4.

Deccan chargers won this match on a pitch ruled by bowlers with a exceptional five for from Ishant Sharma (5/12) and Dale Steyn’s 3/19. Sangakkara was key for Deccan chargers with bat making 65 crucial runs of the 129 they score. Kochi tuskers from Kerala were all out for 55 runs short of target, 75 runs.

This pushed Pune warriors further down from 8th before this match to 9th position.

28th April After PWI vs CSK in Navi Mumbai after Match 31

Badrinath and Raina’s contribution made Chennai Super Kings sail ahead of Pune Warriors India once again. This is CSK’s 2nd win in a row taking them up to 2nd in IPL points table after winning by 8 wickets and 3 balls to spare.

Chasing a modest 141 Chennai, were comfortable all through, but needed a few big hits in the end by Suresh raina to not get the equation too tight.

PW lost 4 matches in a row, most by any team in IPL4 and is still at 8 th position but loosing the run-rate it had. Yuvraj initially in first innings fought a lone battle which they ultimately lost.

The ongoing DC match will be important in deciding the fate of their in this edition.

It is amazing to see CSK after one home and one away win rising from Bottom 2 to Top 2. Happens only in IPL! Truly :)

27th April After RCB vs DD Match 30

RCB clinched a close game by 3 wickets against Delhi Daredevils and Shoot up in points table with 7 points and lesser negative run-rate than Rajasthan Royals with the same number of points.

Delhi on the other hand managed to stay at 9th position and did not spoil its run-rate as they only lost 6 wickets when they set the target and let RCB chase down only with 3 balls remaining.

26th April

Brilliant bowling and fielding by CSK won them 3rd straight home game. This win against Sahara Pune Warriors took them 5 positions up to make into the top 4. To make 142 runs in a match and winning it magnificently by 25 runs gifted them a additional run rate of 0.25 which brings them to net run rate of 0.1 below Kolkata Knight riders and above kings XI and Kochi tuskers all 4 teams with same number of points.

Pune warriors on the other hand fall by one position as CSK bettered them. It was blow for their net run rate also which was very good inspite of being low in points table. A 25 runs loss and loosing too many wickets in then end meant that their net run rate fell by 0.4 units to stand at 0.25.

25th April

As expected the points table witnessed quite a few changes with 2 matches that involves first half and second half of the table.

Mumbai Indians due to their emphatic win over Deccan Chargers just went far ahead of other teams both in terms of Run-rate and points. They are with 10 points getting close to being in top 4 already.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand scripted the win by making Warne’s promise true that they would be a different team in the Match vs Kochi. With 3 wins and a tie They are on 7 points.

Deccan remained with 4 points jointly with CSK and DD after the loss, however their run-rate went down so much they are at the table bottom. The way they wasted good chance given by spinner Ojha and Mishra makes them worthy of being the last.

Kochi Tuskers down on run-rate after the loss vs Rajasthan are 5th with 6 points. Their run-rate went past below that of Kings XI Punjab which brought the Kings to 4th.

24th April

Delhi Daredevils after the big win would be expected go up the table. But in spite of increase of run rate from –0.6 to –0.23 it just wasn’t enough to wash of their past deeds. They still are down but this time with 4 equal points with CSK, DC, SPW. Chennai are slightly better than Delhi with –0.16 run-rate are on 9th position.

For Kings XI Punjab this big loss was blow for their run-rate as they fell to –0.1 and they fell to 4 th below Kochi with Run Rate of 0.1.

Today’s matches “Deccan Chargers vs Mumbai Indians”. & “Rajsthan Royals vs Kochi Tuskers” will be important as RR and DC are lower half of the table and MI and Kochi in the upper half. Lot of rearrangement can happen based on the result.

However unless Kochi Tuskers Kerala wins big there is not much possibility that MI will not continue to be a Table topper. Kochi however have to cross a Rajasthan team would put their best efforts to get out of a bad loosing streak. With inconsistent Deccan Chargers it can be a close game against Mumbai Indians.

Today’s Matches 4 pm: DC vs MI 8 pm: RR vs KTK

23 rd April

Mumbai Indians are the new table toppers. They comfortable win against CSK got to the top. It was revenge completed in a match that saw two stellar performances by Rohit Sharma 87 and Harbhajan Singh 5-18 MI just got the they place they deserve as they are playing together as unit with valuable contributions from everyone.

It was a more than revenge completed as they not only won comfortably but also pushed CSK down to 9th position with 3rd straight loss. CSK needs to do some serious rethinking against Pune Warriors in their next especially their bowling department.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had the much needed win and jump up 4 places to reach 5th position. They join Rajasthan Royals in 5 points but better them due to the run rate. Their 9 ball 9 wicket win contributed to the increase in their run-rate. Gayle single handedly made it easy for them. He just proved a point against everyone who had left him at the auction.

This meant that Kolkata with 2 straight losses lost their good run-rate and came down to second position. They have 5 days before they compete with the seemingly weak Delhi daredevils on 28th.

22nd April

Punjab literally punished Rajasthan Royals in the battle of Aussies to go up by 5 places to gain 3th position. Previously it stood 8th as it played only 3 matches. With 6 equal points other top 4 teams are KKR, MI and KTK difference being only due to its net run rate. This BIG win ensured that their run-rate increased from -0.5 to a decent positive 0.29. Up-coming match with CSK will be an interesting encounter for this Strong KXIP team.

Rajasthan Who suffered a deadly loss are only down to 5th place with huge negative run-rate. Their washed off match with RCB and initial two wins saving their position form going down. However, one more loss can be very fatal to Rajathan Royals. They are going to play a tough team again in Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Hope they can recreate the magic in initial teams as they have a good team and just that their bowling has to click.

Kochi Tuskers dropped by 1 place as they were over taken by kings in Net run rate.

21st April

Knight Riders, KKR continue to be the table toppers in spite of the loss to Kochi Tuskers. But their run rate dropped to .6 from .9

Mumbai Indians jumped up 2 places to join KKR with 6 points after the win against Pune Warriors. However due to the 0.15 NRR difference they have to settle for 2nd place. This pushes Sahara Pune warriors down from 3rd to 5th.

Resurgent Kochi jumps 3 places and stands on 6 points after the win vs KKR.

RR drops to 4th position as MI and KTK better past it. Battle of Aussies KXP vs RR will be a crucial game as RR look to end their loosing streak and Kings to extend it. All eyes are Paul Vellathi expecting him to score a hat-trick of match-winning innings.

20th April

Interesting thing about this year’s IPL table is it has 6 teams having same points. (4). So we can expect the table go shuffle all the way.

RR which is famous for negative Run rate is again been phenomenal with –.5 run-rate in spite of being 2nd top team in standings. Their colossal loss to KKR has done it for them.

RCB lost a good chance to comeback when their match with Royals got washed away.

Delhi needs to do something to turn around this terrible situation for them. It’s worst standing ever for this team which made it semi-finals twice and lost a chance to get there once.
