Delhi daredevils and Kings XI Punjab both these teams with closely bases in North of India did not have much expectations before IPL 4 began. While KXIP proved people wrong strongly, DD is just living up to it. Kings are with 3 wins in just 4 matches and Delhi Daredevils 1 win in 4 matches. Both teams are almost on either ends of the points table in IPL 4 2011.
Devils and specifically Captain Sehwag will do everything for a win in this match against a strong opponent. I know a lot of fans from College who were common supporters to KXIP and DD. When kings didn’t perform they supported devils ardently. Now the situation is just turned around. But you can’t deny come back of Delhi team which would cruise over if their opening pair and the Strike bowler “mini” swing sultan clicks. Sehwag himself must be wanting to set the team a example by finding his form and giving a blast of start.
Kings XI would not give up easy for they are they look most dangerous team filled with Match Winners form the HIT film “Naya deewar”. If Valthay and Gilchrist contributed in first 2 games, Marsh came back in the 3rd game and played as if he wanted to be leading “HERO” of this blockbuster. Harris leading the attack with Praveen Kumar is leaving no stone unturned too.
Pitch:
The green tinge to the pitch will be crucial in this match and even out the contest as it neither gives full advantage to flat pitch hitters nor completely to the pacers. Closely cropped grass and generous rolling will seemingly ensure that batsman cannot just come in line and hit it out of the park.
Delhi Daredevils:
Delhi a side which was filled with match winners till last version seems to missing them badly. Except Sehwag and Warner this side is more or less filled up when amateurs.Irfan Pathan who is known not just for his bowling but also for hitting in the middle order hasn’t made his presence felt till now. Expectations are completely on opening batsman in this match too as at least a good performance from them would up the enthusiasm of other players. Mornier Morkel though has been good with ball till now is not getting the support from other end in Ashok Dinda. In such a case if explosive kings target one end Morkel can’t do much about it too. Sehwag’s captaincy would be put to test in this even game set by the pitch. How they are going control Kings run-rate is going to be the key.
But hope rests in Coach’s words a day before the game. He was quoted by DD website supporting Pathan than he has been the most hard working in the nets and is coing out very good . Pathan’s batting in the nets too is impressive according to him. It only amazes so as to how he could not deliver the goods till now. It’s never too late as they have 10 matches to go. Pathan can be really useful with early wickets and useful runs if he can be what he was. What better occasion than performing against your Ex-team which did not retain you ? Irfan should seek enthu from Kallis and Gayle who both did their best against opponents.
Kings XI Punjab:
Nothing much has to be told about how this team has been ruling the roost. A special mention has to made about the King Captain – Adam Gilchrist. All his moves are been amazing till now in IPL 4. Just as an example it was amazing to see how he continued initial spell of Praveen Kumar for 4 overs in initial spell vs Rajasthan Royals. 2 wickets were already down and Kings were comfortable by then. However Gilchrist attacked and it payed of in Kumar’s fourth over with a BIG wicket of Shane Watson. But one pitch which is not as flat as kings encountered in previous games, its going to be very interesting to see who attacking batsman in Valthay, Marsh and Gilly Bat.
On the other hand they have a strong perfomer who has been silent till now in Dinesh Karthik. He would want to be ruthless against his ex-team too. It would be up to the top order of Kings who has been guarding from batting till now. That way 3 quick wickets who bring batsman who haven’t faced too many balls till now. It would be interesting to see how they tackle it.
