Deccan Chargers – Adam Gilchrist Went Along for 3 years.
Apr 8th 2011
Less than 10 hours for IPL to start, And as anyone I am excited about it. One image than comes to my mind as I think of IPL is of “Gilly” in that blue jersey. Either with his trademark bat walking down with Suman to open the innings or in his gloves talking to his young bowlers and fielders, it was really quite a sight. I remember how he trashed the so called best opposition Delhi’s bowling attack in 2009 semi-final and many such innings. I also remember how he calmly played when DC were chasing a high total against RCB in 2010 Bangalore home game. With Suman on the other end he was constantly motivating him and advising him.
Such an alert and inspiring captain that he was, clearly shown in how DC defended a total of 144 in IPL final against RCB in 2009. Seen constantly planning with Symmonds, Rohit, Ryan Harris making constant plans, talking to young Harmeet singh whenever he got went for too many runs. And who could anyone inspired by Gilchrist not deliver. Every one fought as a team to emerge as IPL Champions 2009 from team which had till expectations. The celebrations, fireworks and the excited gilly expressing how awesome that win was, everything, still very close to my heart. How about yours ?
But 2011 IPL 4, any DC fan would again dream of seeing Gilly in blue jersey and with those awesome horns. Remember that McDowell ad where Rohit makes fool of Gilly. :) Everyone of us would one side be expecting similar fun from Gilly, but the “sad truth” that has to realized No Gilly in Deccan chargers. I just have to ask my stupid self to stop dreaming. Gilly has loyally entertained us for 3 years. Well we have to move on to loyally support our beloved new Chargers.
Go DC Go!!!
With the end of contracts and two new teams coming in. Several players have shuffled. What do you think is biggest change for you from last year to this year.
One happy Change – I don’t have to see Lalit Modi anymore
Second – Unexplainable- “Gilly not as a Charger”
by Every DC Fan
Memories!
